About DrPeering

Advancing Peering through Education

The idea for the site came from two thoughts.

  1. 1)Bill Norton keeps getting the question "Which version of the ____ peering white paper is the latest?", and

2) over beers at the Global Peering Forum in the Dominican Republic, Frank Orlowski asks Bill to write an exclusive DECIX column, an "Ask Dr Peering" advice column-- a quarter to half page mini monthly white paper to help ease new peers into the Peering Community.

A great idea!

Execution. So, Bill bought this domain and started writing the Ask DrPeering columns. He hacked the DrPeering site to combine these two ideas and provide a repository (or links to) the community resources white papers.

Advertise. In return for a sponsorship fee, the De-CIX gets their logo on the site and the exclusive right to put the Ask DrPeering articles in their newsletter. The site also provides an archive for all Ask Dr Peering columns along with material that couldn't fit into the article.

The DrPeering.net site continues to evolve. We have some introductory columns, some advanced, even some controversial ones. We will make some mistakes but continuously try new things.

Consultants. Most recently, since a number of people in the peering community have let me know that they were looking for consulting work, another gig or in some cases have been laid off during the down economy.  I added a link for consultants@DrPeering.net to help direct some referrals their way.
