The Internet Peering Knowledge Center
Above is some advanced material culled from some of the smartest peering people in the world. When researching The Art of Peering we asked the most seasoned Peering Coordinators, “What do you do when a Peer says ‘No’, or gives no answer? Do you just give up?” This research highlights some of the “Tricks of the Trade” that allowed them to get peering where they otherwise would not be able to do so. All of this from some of the world’s most seasoned Peering Coordinators. All of this is assimilated and presented here with the goal of growing new peering coordinators into 5-year seasoned peering coordinators.
The Internet Peering Ecosystem is now documented, with our definition of an the Global Peering Ecosystem as a set of Internet Regions each consisting of Regional Tier 1 ISPs, Regional Tier 2 ISPs, Content Provider and their relative positions, motivations, and behaviors within the Internet Peering Ecosystem.

The Folly of Peering Ratios as a peering candidate discriminator is discussed in this section. It is based on debates and discussions at NANOG surrounding whether it was rational to include traffic ratio maximums in peering requirements. Hear both sides of the argument, although, from the title, you can tell which side the article favors.
3 Steps to Peering is a write up that describes in high level terms what is involved with peering. After this it may be worthwhile looking at The Peering Coordinator Job to see some of the activities involved with Peering.

The Great Public vs Private Peering Debate occurred at NANOG in Seattle at the Peering BOF IX event. This page documents the results of this debate and the discussions afterwards. Also see Vijay Gill’s description of the life cycle of peering inclinations - from open public to open hybrid (public+private) to selective private to restrictive private.
